Kawanga Forest Lodge is an eco-tourist 1950s- themed simple set of accomodations in Kawanga Forest a privately operated tropical moist rain forest on the outskirts of Kalangala township. The lodge overlooks Lutoboka bay where MV Kalangala docks everyday at 5.30 p.m. Two other shipping lines serve Lutoboka. Travelers from Masaka can access the lodge 28 km from Luku (Bugoma) landing site operated by Kalangala Infrastructure Services on behalf of UNRA.
Visitors to the lodge have access to more than 600 acres of private forest in the three villages of Bumangi, Bweya and Buligo which touch from the main Buggala road to the lakeshore. At night guests have views of locations on the mainland 60 miles away including Entebbe International Airport. The property also has the highest point on Buggala island a few hundred meters from Bumangi Catholic parish.
Accommodation is country rustic style with bed and breakfast or meals on order. The lodge can accommodate on arrangement outdoor events in its gardens or at the beachfront. There are single rooms, single deluxe rooms with a private living area and flats which comprise of two bedrooms, dining ensuite and a living room.
